Evaluations

A comprehensive assessment carried out by a Speech Language Pathologist. Typically, an evaluation is comprised of family/parental interview, language sample, formal and/or informal assessment measures and clinical observation. Conducted for the purpose of describing and/or determining the presence of speech, language and/or swallowing impairments. When necessary, a plan of care is established to set individualized goals based on results obtained during the evaluation process.

After an evaluation, you can expect a report and description/analysis of results. If therapy is warranted, explanation of goals and expectations for therapy will be established and provided.

Consultations

Consultations provide an opportunity to discuss your child’s current stages of language development and any related concerns. A speech-language pathologist can answer questions and provide tips specific to your child’s speech and/or language needs. We can make recommendations with home modifications to promote communication. We can also guide you with a plan and recommend next steps.

We provide in-person consultations at our office location and virtual consultations. Consultations are with a parent only, NO testing is conducted during consultations.

Screenings

Screenings consist of a quick pass/fail system to determine if a child or adult requires further assessment. Results obtained are:

PASS= No need for an evaluation at this time.

-OR-

FAIL=formal evaluation is recommended.

This can be obtained via informal observation and/or a simple questionnaire and does not include a written report.

We provide a FREE screening for children during our mommy and me classes. Simply add “screening” when booking a weekday class and we will conduct an informal observation to determine if an evaluation is warranted.
